Volunteer Roles

At Leeds Jewish Welfare Board, we offer a diverse range of volunteer roles to suit various interests, skills, and schedules. Whether you’re passionate about lending an empathetic ear, organising events, or providing practical assistance, we have a role for you. Some of our volunteer positions include:

Assist with office tasks, such as data entry, answering phones, and helping with mailings, ensuring smooth operations.

Spend quality time offering companionship and a friendly listening ear to individuals in our community who may be isolated. Whether it is a regular visit for a cup of tea, a chat, or a short walk, your presence as a befriender brings warmth, comfort, and vital social connection to someone’s week.

Become part of our vibrant retail team by helping out at our LJWB Charity Shop. You will assist with sorting wonderful donations, preparing stock for the shop floor, creating engaging displays, and greeting customers with a smile – all while helping to raise critical funds that keep our community doors open.

Provide a vital lifeline for our community by offering safe, friendly transport to and from the MAZCC for our social groups and activities. Alternatively, you can use your own vehicle to deliver fresh, nutritious meals from our LKK Leeds Kosher Kitchen directly to the doorsteps of local residents, ensuring they stay well-fed and connected.

If you have specific professional skills, such as counselling, legal advice, or healthcare expertise, consider offering your services to those who could benefit.

Help with the organisation and smooth running of our events and activities throughout the year.

It’s a wonderful delight and blessing for me to be a Befriender. We both enjoy our time together, either visiting at his house, walking with him in his garden, or chatting over a cup of tea. I truly feel, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Befriender
"What I like about being a Befriender, is the pleasure it gives me and the people I have Befriended. We have wonderful conversations. I have Befriended three ladies, each one very different but they each have a very special place in my heart!"
Befriender
"Volunteering for me is my way of giving something back. Many people who come often have limited social contact so it’s great to see them chatting, dancing & generally enjoying themselves."
