Talk: Hearing Voices…Hearing Peter

This is a unique opportunity to hear Peter Bullimore, leading expert in hearing voices. Peter is an international lecturer, research fellow and published author. He is a trustee of the Hearing Voices Network which supports people who hear voices. Their goal is to educate people about mental health and to encourage community and social support rather than following the medical model.

Peter spent ten years as a psychiatric patient enduring many bouts of severe paranoia for the voices he could hear. Through learning holistic approaches and with support of the HVN he was able to reclaim his life from the system.

This is a free event and can be booked through Eventbrite on the link below.

The programme is designed to support parents who are at risk of or experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and depression in pregnancy. The new service is an evidenced-based, preventative service designed to minimise the impact of mental health problems for expectant parents and their babies. The programme is based on recent research and aims to enhance the emotional wellbeing of at-risk mothers and fathers, and build their capacity to provide sensitive, responsive care to their babies both before and after birth.

Following the huge success of last year’s ‘1 in 4’ dinner with David Baddiel, we are thrilled to welcome Lee Nelson, acclaimed character comedian and untameable prankster (AKA Simon Brodkin) , as our speaker at this year’s dinner.

National statistics show that 1 in 4 people continue to suffer with mental health problems in the UK and we, in the Jewish Community, are not immune.  This will be the third year of the ‘1 in 4’ dinner which has proven hugely successful both in raising much needed funds and in raising awareness of the prevalence of mental health issues.

The dinner will take place on Sunday 15th May. Tickets cost £50 each.

Places are limited  so please make sure you book your tickets soon.
