We are holding 3 events in support of Dementia Awareness Week:

a) An exciting opportunity to Explore the History of the M&S Archive  with an interactive session on 15th May 11am-12noon, @ the MAZCC. See link below for further details.

Baby Massage Course

Learn how to massage your baby with help from a fully certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) at our very popular baby massage course

Infant massage may help with the following:

  • Strengthen the bond between parent and baby
  • Promote deeper sleep
  • Aid digestion
  • Relieve wind and colic
  • Reduce crying

Classes are suitable for all babies from one month to crawling and for all parents and primary care givers

Only the parent/care giver massages baby. The instructor uses a demonstration doll

Next course starts Monday 20thth March at 11am for 5 weeks

£25 for the full 5 week course

Bounce Back Boy by Brian Daniels – part of the Milim Festival

Short play by Brian Daniels performed by Joey Taylor

Showing at the MAZCC on Thursday 9th March at 2.30pm and 4.30pm

This short play by Brian Daniels was commissioned by the National Council for Palliative Care. It tells the true story of Josh, a severely disabled boy, told through the very personal accounts and challenges his adoptive mother experienced around ‘joined up care’ provision. It is performed by Joey Taylor.

‘An Afternoon with Julia Baird’ (sister of John Lennon)

Women 4 Welfare are proud to present an ‘Afternoon with Julia Baird’, sister of John Lennon, who will talk about the early years of the band from Johnny and the Moondogs to The Quarrymen and finally how they morphed into THE BEATLES. Julia has written about family life with John Lennon and will share her experiences.

Julia has three children and 3 grandchildren. Julia gained an MA in philosophy of education and later taught French and English before working as a special needs teacher and psychologist with teenagers in deprived areas of Chester. After Lennon’s death she wrote the book  John Lennon, My Brother and in 2004  Imagine This – Growing up with my brother John Lennon.

She is now retired and lives in Chester with her partner Roger Keys.

She is a director of the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Julia’s paternal grandmother was Jewish and she has fond memories of chicken soup on the range!
